Who we are
In the quiet stillness of the 1800s, a love story took root—one that would become the foundation of our family legacy. Thomas and Margaret Jackson, bound by courage and conviction, left their home in Virginia and journeyed south to Twiggs County, Georgia.
Little is known of those early days, but what has been passed down through memory is powerful. Margaret, believed by many to be a white woman, stirred controversy in an era of deep division. Thomas was jailed for their union, and it was only through proof of Margaret’s Cherokee Indian heritage that he was released. Their love, tested by the harsh judgments of the time, endured.
To protect their future and embrace a new beginning, Thomas and Margaret took on a new name—Adams—and relocated to nearby Jones County. There, they built a life and raised ten strong, beautiful children: Annie, George, Maggie, Mattie, Willie, Thomas Jr., Henrietta, Nellie, Catherine, and Jackson.
From their strength and sacrifice grew the mighty tree we now call family. Every branch of it—every smile, story, and soul—is rooted in their resilience.
